This is not the fence bill. This is the DHS appropriations bill in which 1.2 billion dollar is allocated for fence building. Anyways. it doesn't matter if the fence bill is signed or not. It's not gonna make any difference to us so why worry about it.

I understand that a H1B visa is the expense to the employer and is not a taxable benefit to the employee. If a company wishes to pay for the green card for the employee, granting them permanent residence in the U.S., is this a taxable benefit to the employee? Should it be added to their W-2? If yes, where is the IRS documentation on this? I can�t find it. Thanks.
If the company pays for GC expenses directly, then it is an expense to the company, and it will not be reported on W2 as it is not a taxable benefit. However, if you are being reimbursed for GC expenses, *some* companies report this in paycheck as non-taxable income, again you will not be paying taxes to IRS on this. It is just a record keeping.

I just checked the copy sent to me from my law office. It says I-485 pending for the current status. I got the EAD renewed without any problem.
I saw somewhere that you can alos write AOS pending.

My AP document expired in NOv 2008. I traveled to India and got back in Aug 2008. The officer stamped the document and wrote paroled until Aug 2009.
Can I travel on this document?

Hi All,
Is there a fee for filing a renew advance parole document for a application based on a I-485 filed after July 2007.
I know that there is no fee for I-765 renewal, but , there is a conflict for I-131 based on the following info:
1.

The legal basis for this reasoning can be found in controlling language at 8 CFR 103.7(b) provides that "... no additional fee will be charged for a request for travel document (advance parole) or employment authorization filed by an applicant who has paid the Form I-485 application fee..."

All,
I am currently unemployed and my spouse needs to travel to Mumbai urgently. Our AP is valid through November 30, 2009. Will there be any issues for my wife when she comes back - possibly because of my current status. Wife is employed (with a different company)& the EAD/AP was filed by my last employer. Responses will be appreciated. Thanks!
She will not have any issues in entering as long as her 485 is pending. Make sure, she gets back before the AP expires.

ANSWER:: No, with Canadian GC you can not enter USA for long term work, without stamping. I think entry for one month is permitted.

I have used TataAIG insurance from India on 4-5 occasions for my in laws and my parents and I found it to be good. On one occasion we also got around $4000 reimbursed from them (in Indian Rupees) for the hospital expenses incurred for my in laws. Here is my take on the Visitor Insurance.
You have two options -
1> Get visitor medical insurance from USA (various company names are at www.samachar.com).
Advantages - Dont have to pay money upfront for hospital charges, but its kinda expensive then insurance from India.
2> Get visitor medical insurance from India
Advantages - this can cover insurance when in-flight also and for luggage also.
Disadvantages - Might have to pay money upfront for hospital expenses, and get reimbursed back in India.
Please note that this can be different from vendor to vendor. Also any existing ailments are not covered.

Big cos generally file a new Labor and are hesitant to hire if someone is beyonnd 6 yrs period. Even if you convince them that your old PD can be transferred, they are not convinced....(or do not know much about the process).

We filled out all paperwork and forwarded to the lawyers 3 weeks ago, who filed it for us.
As I'm writing out a proxy for my dad to vote in my homecountry in upcoming elections, I somehow realize I wrongly entered his birthday on the G-325A, I put down June 6th, rather then June 8th. (got confused mixing it up with my husband's birthday)
Totally stupid :o, I know, I know. I'm so worried over this now, I can't sleep anymore, I can't eat anymore :(.
Of course I have already filled out a corrected G-325A & forwarded it to the lawyers handling our applications, but what could the consequences be? I'm so worried!

Recently My H1B visa tranfer approved with out 1-94 card attached to approval copy(still I am with Company A only)
